There’s an old saying: You’ll arrive in Murcia crying and you’ll leave Murcia crying. It refers to the fact that the province of Murcia, the home of our villas and apartments at La Manga Club, while squeezed into a corner of Spain that finds itself at some distance from the popular big cities, is nonetheless replete with things to do. You may have to come here to hear about them, but once you make a few discoveries, you’ll fall in love and never want to leave.
As a resident of La Manga Club and a regular at our bars and restaurants like Amapola, Luigi or Asia, you know full well that this area takes good food and good drink very seriously. So you’ll be happy to discover that in addition to the lovely beaches and cultural sights, an excursion outside of La Manga Club can also provide unbeatable cuisine. If you want to sit at the best tables in town, here are five restaurants worthy of you giving up a few hours of your time at your villa or apartment in La Manga Club to try a new taste sensation. Don’t forget that our La Manga Club favourites will still be here when you return!
El Parador del Mar Menor
About 12 kilometers from our leisure and golf resort, just next to the fishing village of Cabo de Palos, you’ll find this well known hotel and restaurant whose varied and exquisite menu is dominated by Mediterranean fare. You can’t leave without trying their fabulous starters or fideuà – a paella made with thin pasta instead of rice – with the traditional cod “cocochas”.
It also has a large terrace where you can enjoy a cocktail while listening to live music. Their web page has the entire menu listed, as well as contact information, so call and make a reservation.
La Vaca Gallega
Did you know that Gallegan cuisine is one of the most esteemed regional offerings in Spain? Though we’re on the Mediterranean, you only have to drive about 20 minutes from La Manga Club to enjoy it. La Vaca Gallega offers typical dishes like octopus “a feira”, empanada, or the delicious “tarta de Santiago”, a cake made from almonds, without requiring you to travel to the Atlantic coast. What’s more, the meat is exquisite, especially the Mountain Ox Ribeye (chuletón de buey de montaña) or the mixed barbecue meat dish (parillada de carne). If you’re more of a fish lover, try the dishes that feature cod. You can make reservations at this number: 695 60 69 67.
San Remo
To enjoy San Remo you’ll have to drive to the Murcian capital, so if you’re someone who, besides the beaches, nature, and great services offered by our villas and apartments for sale at La Manga Club, were also lured in by the cultural offer of the city of Murcia, plan a day trip and tack on a meal at this wonderful restaurant. With a charming ambiance and located right in the center of it all, its specialty is traditional cuisine. We recommend that you try the monkfish with shrimp and their Mar Menor “calderillo”. They have a terrace with a garden where you’ll find yourself very comfortable enjoying a delicious meal. For reservations, call: 968 14 08 13.
Castillo de Proa
Located on the Gran Via de La Manga del Mar Menor in the municipality of San Javier, very close to your property at La Manga Club, their menu is known for their fish and seafood, especially their “boquerones de feria” and wild bass, which you absolutely must try.
They have a large terrace with views of the Mediterranean and this is definitely a great place to bring your friends and family for lunch or dinner. The number for reservations is: 968 141 040.
Area Sunset
Finally, in the heart of the coast of the Mar Menor, facing Barón Island, you’ll find this magnificent restaurant that stands out for its Mediterranean food. Don’t skip their paellas or grilled meat. They have a terrace at the water’s edge and a relaxed pub area perfect for an evening drink. You can take a look at the menu online and contact them for a reservation.
So there you have it. If you want to discover some new sights and tastes, and enjoy some of the best cuisine in the world, just a stone’s throw from our leisure and golf resort, La Manga Club, these great spots offer a little slice of Spanish gastronomic heaven.
